Chefs Emily & Stevie have produced a menu using local and organic produce which has been key to the success of the organic restaurant at Cross Lanes.

Everything is made fresh from scratch on the premises, all meals are made using chef’s own mix of ingredients with herbs & spices to flavour.

Throughout the menu, all dietary requirements are catered for including gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan.

Our organic restaurant was the first to achieve a top accolade from the Soil Association ‘Organic Served Here’ award. We received the maximum 5 stars award in recognition of our commitment to serving a menu that contains 95 to 100% certified organic ingredients.

Organic Coffee

Organic Coffee Served

All good restaurants require a quality coffee and we’ve got just that.

We use Railtown Organic Coffee from Henley, based in Darlington. Our beans are a triple certified espresso blend, with Sumatra, Columbia and Honduras. It has a dark chocolate, walnut flavour with full body.

We use a Fairtrade organic Columbian medium roast filter coffee which is 100% Arabica with a full nutty flavour with fruity aroma.

Our coffees are available to takeaway as well.

We sell retail bags on the farm shop of both our organic beans & ground coffees. So if you have enjoyed a coffee in the restaurant you can buy a bag to enjoy at home.

Woodfired Pizza Oven

The restaurant features a traditional wood fired pizza oven which sits at the heart of the building.

The wood oven is not on every day, so just ring us to find out when if it is a pizza you are craving for.

Our delicious pizzas are a must to try.  Everything is homemade from scratch, we make all our own pizza dough in the bakery, the passata is a chef’s special recipe and the toppings are freshly prepared daily.

A popular pizza is the pulled pork with pesto which uses our own rarebreed pork from the butchers.

Flat breads, rarebits, lasagnes and other daily specials are also cooked or finished in the wood oven.

All pizzas are available to take away so you can enjoy them at home or on the go.

The Menu

We have a specials board which changes daily ensuring a varied choice for our regular customers and a menu which is based solely on availability of local, seasonal ingredients.

Our Restaurant is a Green Oasis On The A66

The restaurant is situated beneath a glazed atrium providing a light spacious relaxing atmosphere.  A stop off at Cross Lanes offers a little bit of tranquility just seconds off the busy A66 with the restaurant overlooking the rolling Teesdale countryside.

There are many characteristic features throughout the restaurant. A large wall mural painted by local artist John Degnan portraying the history of Teesdale & incorporating farming images and well-known landmarks. A reclaimed fire escape staircase has been transformed and upcycled with designed artwork cut and fixed by a local metal fabricator, with a single reclaimed Scottish granite pillar supporting the staircase, this was rescued from a demolition site.

Curved reclaimed church pews create an additional seating area, with an old slate bed off a billiard table reformed to make table tops.
