Cross Lanes Organic Kitchen
Our organic kitchen serves a wide range of great tasting homemade food throughout the day, the menu boasts dishes made from organic, wild, fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Whether you are looking for a full english breakfast, a sandwich, a light rustic lunch, wood fired pizza or an afternoon tea, Cross Lanes is the place to eat. The café-restaurant is situated beneath our glazed atrium providing a real spacious relaxing environment overlooking the Teesdale countryside. A feature of our café is the traditional wood fired oven which would have been seen in many Teesdale homes back in the 18th Century and before, although maybe not in the same grand proportions. We use the oven to make delicious stone baked pizzas, flatbreads, roast meat & vegetables and also smoke fish in it.
We have a specials board which changes daily ensuring a varied choice for our regular customers and a menu which is based soley on availability of local, seasonal ingredients. We cater for all dietary requirements and offer a selection of gluten free and vegetarian dishes.

We have a team of girls pulling all the stops out in our organic kitchen, Kaylee & Stevie work very closely together bouncing ideas of each other to create exciting dishes to serve. They each have their own interests and talents, Kaylee is a very talented patisserie chef ensuring a fantastic range of cakes and sweet delights are on offer and Stevie has an art for making the most wonderful nutritious soups, curries & savoury dishes. Together they create the daily specials served in the cafe restaurant and have won Great Taste Awards for their apple & almond cake, blueberry & lemon frangipan and fruit scones. The girls introduced the Cross Lanes milkshakes, using organic milk from Acorn Dairy who have kindly provided us with their milk bottles to serve the shakes in. Ali and Kelly fully support the kitchen duo and turn their hands to most things which is a great asset to the kitchen,
We make as much ourselves as possible the Cross Lanes way with our kitchen working hand in hand with our fantastic front of house team. The kitchen works very closely with Sandy our butcher, utilising our own cured bacon and homemade sausages in the breakfast dishes and bringing tasty meat dishes onto the menu and trying new products like goat kebabs and venison lasagne.
